Tic...Tic...Tic...BOOM! Is Your Heart Healthy?

If you are anything like me,
I like to think my heart is super healthy while I order with confidence, a delicious Bacon Cheese Burger with a side of French Fries. But I'll drink a diet Coke, because regular Coke has too much sugar...Duh, everyone knows that...

However, if you are like me, then you also lay in bed later that night worrying that your heart isn't quite as healthy as you want so badly to believe it is.

Be careful of your thoughts
for your thoughts become your words
Be careful of your words
for your words become your actions.
Be careful of your actions
for your actions become your habits
Be careful of your habits
for your habits become your character.
Be careful of your character,
for your character becomes your destiny...

Well, If you are like me...
You are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure I'm not just taking care of my health on a wing and a prayer. Young or old, we all have to make healthy, educated, choices in our life to make sure we create a healthy destiny.

And even at our best, no one can promise that doing all the right things to be health can guarantee we won't get sick. At the age of 32, I was in great physical shape. I was training with a professional body builder and my diet was a perfect combination of veggies, lean protein and fruit. I was a socially acceptable petite size two. I lived in Newport Beach, California, where anorexia is a complement, not a disease. My best friend was a former Miss Universe pageant queen and people often asked if we were sisters. My body fat was 11 percent and I was solid  muscle.... and literally over night my entire life was turned upside down. I began gaining weight. There was no amount of diet or exercise to keep the weight from piling on and in just one year I gained 100 pounds. This was the start of a very long seven years of hell and horrible health issues. I was eventually diagnosed with Cushing's disease, a secondary disease cause by a pituitary brain tumor. Now, 15 years later, I have to work even harder to make sure I give my heart all the help I can to make sure I have the best opportunity for a healthy life. That's why I'm so passionate about sharing with you an amazing Harvard trained cardiologist, Dr. Cynthia Thaik and her wonderful new book, "Your Vibrant HEART-Restoring Health, Strength & Spirit From the Body's Core"

Dr. Cynthia Thaik.Harvard trained cardiologist.

The heart is one of the most important parts of your body. However, as I mentioned some times we do all the right things and we still get sick. But we have to try, and most importantly we have to remember, an illness can take our health but it can't take our happiness because happiness is a choice. Making healthy lifestyle choices are a great start to a better quality of life and taking care of ourselves emotionally, and spiritually are the glue that hold us together when life throws us a curve ball.

Please email me with your health concerns and I will try and address the topic.

Wishing you great happiness and fantastic health,
Sharmyn
